Program Overview
Explore how and why humans move, and how movement can shape lives, health and performance. 91²Ö¿â’s Master of Science in Kinesiology is designed for students who want advanced knowledge and applied experience in the study of human movement.
Pursue a broad interdisciplinary path, or focus your studies in biomechanics, exercise physiology, or the social psychology of physical activity and sport. Throughout the program, you’ll gain hands-on laboratory and research experience and work closely with faculty engaged in cutting-edge research.
Choose between a Thesis Option and a Non-Thesis Option to build a graduate experience that fits your career and academic goals.

Work closely with a faculty advisor to design and complete an original research study, from problem development through data collection and analysis. You’ll write a thesis in a format that meets 91²Ö¿â Graduate School guidelines, guided by a committee of at least two faculty members. This path is ideal if you’re considering a Ph.D. or a research-focused career.

Focus on advanced coursework and hands-on experience without a formal thesis. To fulfill your comprehensive exam requirement, you’ll earn a professional certification — such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist or the American College of Sports Medicine’s Certified Exercise Physiologist — or complete a department-approved alternative exam. This path is ideal if you’re building applied, career-ready expertise.

- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or universit
- A cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better (on a 4.00 scale)
- Two academic or professional letters of recommendation
- A written statement of your background, career goals and research interests
- A current resume or curriculum vitae
- The $50 application fee (waived for current 91²Ö¿â students and alumni)
The GRE is not required.
